Spring Family Photography in Vevey, Lausanne, Morges & Vaud

Spring is one of my favourite times for outdoor family photography. When the cherry blossoms and magnolias open, the parks and lakeside paths across Vaud fill with soft pink and white flowers, and the light feels fresh and gentle.

I’m a family and maternity photographer based in Vevey, and I love photographing families outdoors at this time of year. From the lakeside in Vevey and Montreux to the tulips in Morges and the blossoming trees at the Arboretum in Aubonne, the region offers plenty of beautiful settings.

Why choose spring for your family photoshoot?

Blossoms, soft light and returning greenery give photographs a light, natural feel. Cherry blossoms and magnolias are especially lovely for family portraits because their delicate colours need no props or decoration.

Spring also suits maternity photography. Fresh blooms and a green landscape make a gentle, romantic backdrop for this chapter before your baby arrives.

Best locations for spring photography in Vaud

I choose each location for the flowers in bloom, the surroundings and the atmosphere that suits your family. These are some of my favourites:

• Vevey: Lake Geneva, scenic lakeside paths and spring flowers make it ideal for relaxed, natural portraits with beautiful views.
• Montreux: Like Vevey, it combines the lake and mountain scenery with spring blooms, for a classic Swiss Riviera backdrop.
• Morges: Its tulip displays bring bright, cheerful colour, a lovely alternative to the soft pinks and whites of cherry blossom and magnolia.
• Lausanne: Several parks with spring flowers and blossoming trees offer a peaceful backdrop without leaving the city.
• Arboretum in Aubonne: One of my favourite places in spring. Its varied trees put on a beautiful display of cherry blossoms and magnolias, and it is perfect if you love being surrounded by nature.

Flowering times depend on the weather, so each location looks different from one year to the next. I check conditions before we choose a spot.

When should you book a spring photoshoot?

If you’d like cherry blossoms or magnolias in your photographs, get in touch from early March, or even late February. These blooms last only a short time, and their peak varies with temperature and weather. Booking early gives us more flexibility to choose the right date and location. Tulip displays have a seasonal window too, so it’s worth planning ahead if Morges is your first choice. You don’t need to wait until everything is in bloom. Contact me early with your preferred setting, and I’ll help you plan around the conditions.

What should you wear for spring family photos?

Choose outfits that complement the soft colours of the season without competing with the flowers:

• Soft neutrals: cream, beige and light brown
• Pastels: blush pink, dusty blue, lavender and soft yellow
• Fresh natural tones: sage green and other muted shades
• Light layers: cardigans, lightweight jackets and textured fabrics for cooler days

Your family doesn’t need to wear the same colour. Two or three shades that work well together are enough. Comfort matters most for children, because the best photographs often come from relaxed, playful moments, so choose clothes everyone can move freely in.
